About the event

Join Alison Barnet, longtime South End resident and local author and historian, at the South End Historical Society (532 Mass Ave) on April 23rd at 6:00pm for a talk about the New York Streets area.
Before urban renewal many residents of this section of the South End thought of the New York Streets as a close knit community. However, by the 1950s Boston declared the area a slum, relocated the families, and demolished their homes.
Alison will talk about the New York Streets' history and about the upcoming opening of an exhibit at the Josiah Quincy Upper School on April 27th celebrating the resilience of Boston’s Chinatown, Little Syria, and New York Streets neighborhoods.
